Camino del Condes (Alhaurin el Grande)
This is a circular walk - for the most part in the shade - on the north side of the Sierra de Mijas, starting near the water deposit / castle on the outskirts of Alhaurin el Grande.
The route starts with some undulations and a climb up a dry riverbed. Most of the walk proceeds through paths surrounded by trees. The silence of the forest track makes this walk very pleasant. When reaching the fire break, where of course the trees are cut away, there will be a break. At a Cairn take the path on your left and continue it until it reaches the Camino forestal. From here stay on the right going downhill. Just before you get to the chained off gravel road there is a path sharp right that will eventually lead to the parking area.
At times the path is rather uneven with loose rocks, so walking sticks are recommended.
Directions to the Meeting Place
From Mijas
Take the A-387 towards Alhaurin el Grande. Shortly after the Alhaurin Golf Urbanisation, just past Km3 sign and just before the roundabout ("Puerto de los Pescadores", with the BP garage and Venta Los Morenos). Just past a blue petrol sign there is some waste land on the right where it is possible to park. This is the meeting place, and start of the walk.
From Fuengirola
Take the A-7053 towards Alhaurin el Grande. At the roundabout "Puerto de los Pescadores", with the BP garage and Venta Los Morenos, take the first road on the right towards Mijas (A-387). After 300 metres there is a Mijas KM 10 sign. At the left there is some waste land where it is possible to park. This is the meeting place.
From Marbella
Taking the A-355, turn off onto the MA 3303 to Mijas/Fuengirola and continue until the roundabout with Venta Los Morenos and the BP garage. Turn right at the roundabout onto the A-387 towards Mijas. After 300 metres there is a Mijas KM 10 sign. At the left there is some waste land where it is possible to park. This is the meeting place.

Easy to follow, nice views over the valley of Guadalhorce, alternates forest and more open path. Sadly interesting to see up close the devastation caused by the fire.
