Sendero El Santo, Pizarra
Hiking trail SL-A 213
Route SL-A 213 runs through the Sierra de Gibralmora from which you can see much of the Guadalhorce Valley and the Sierra de las Nieves and towns such as Alora, Casarabonela, Zalea, Cerralba, Gibralgalia, Guaro
or Coin amongst others.
The sendero "El Santo" goes to the highest areas of the Sierra de Gibralmora. On the way up you will have to go through La Raja Ancha, which is a fissure in the rock face you have to go through which has steps incorporated. At the top of this there is a Mirador with lovely views. There is an option to go to Cueva Oscura (The dark Cave about 100m away).
With an estimated walking time of 3 hours, the trail has a total distance of around 9Km, with an altitude of 134 meters( According to Pizarra town hall). The walk starts in the recreational area Raja Ancha (area with barbecues, tables and benches where hikers who wish can stop can enjoy the surroundings) and continues to the top, where you will be able to enjoy magnificent views of the municipality in addition to the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, known as 'El Santo', a great monument that has been located there since 1995.
This route has its completion in the Hermitage Ntra. Sra. de la Fuensanta, built on an old Mozarabic church with a viewpoint with wonderful views of the Vega and its citrus groves.
