Itinerary description
Sendero Llanos del Berral, Benamahoma (Cadíz)
Sendero Llanos del Berral, Benamahoma
This is part of a trilogy of walks that start from the Los Llanos del Campo recreation area, just on the outskirts of Benamahoma.
They are all short and scenic walks and can be all done in one morning or afternoon. The recreation area has a large off road car park, and there are also lots f picnic tables scattered about, so you can enjoy a break after the walks.
It is a 15 minute drive from Grazalema and the car park is on your right adjacent to Km37.
Sendero llanos del Berral is a lovely 1.6km linear walk (3.2km return). The walk is on the otherside of the main road, passing a closed gate. The route has a very slight downhill descent, and goes through an area of Holm oaks and Carob trees until you reach the plains of Berral on your left. The trail follows the Charcones stream which had very little water at this time.
Passing another gate you arrive at the end of the route and a Mirador looking out towards Tavizna where on a mound there is the Aznalmara castle, a reminder of its medieval past.
A beautiful short and scenic trail
