Sendero Mirador de Los Tres Embalses (In Reverse)
This circular walk is on the Islet hill between the reservoir Guadalteba (left) and the reservoir Guadalhorce (right).
This Sendero starts from a small area of off road parking on the MA 9006 road. There is parking for 3-4 cars and some other parking places further down the road.
I have done this route before and wanted to try it in reverse.
The first part is straight forward following the signs to the Mirador, (The Mirador of the 3 Reservoirs).
Arriving at the Mirador you will agree the views are amazing and a good spot for a break. From the Mirador carry on back down the ramp and go straight ahead where you will climb several mounds and one descent to an intersection where you turn right, downhill.
Please note there used to be wooden steps which have perished away but the metal posts, rods and screws protrude from the ground in places, so take care on the descent.
The return leg follows the contours of the reservoir, which will finally bring you back to the parking area.
This area is called Gobantes and comes under the municipality of Campillos.
This walk is definitely in my top 10.
The views from the Mirador are some of the best in the area.
To get to Gobantes pass Ardales and head towards El Chorro and the lakes.
Pass the Mirador restaurant and El Kiosko restaurant. Crossover the dam and pass the hotel La Posada del Conde. Keep going until you crossover the next dam then take the first junction on your left where you will find off road parking about 200m .
