Sendero Pizarra – Cerralba

Warning: you will get your feet wet

This walk starts on the outskirts of Pizarra, beginning on Calle Azahar.
Follow the dirt track which goes under the railway bridge and turn slightly to the left.

A little warning, you will get your feet wet as you have to crossover the Guadalhorce River. Water flows pretty much all the year round.
There used to be concrete blocks to crossover but they got washed away.

Keep walking through the lemon groves until you get to a junction where you turn left (It is gated on the right).
Keep going till you arrive at the junction with the A357. Take the dirt track left, parallel with the road then go down an embankment to your right (No signpost) where you will have to go under the bridge and crossover the Casarabonela stream (luckily this was dry) to the other side, where there is a path parallel with the stream.
The path veers left eventually passing more lemon groves and eventually coming to the Camino de Gibralgalia which is a main road.
Be careful of the traffic for 400m until you get to the entrance of a wooded park, which is where the walk ends.

Retrace your steps back to Pizarra.

I took an old pair of trainers for the river crossing.

There are some lovely views of Alora, the castle and Monte Hacho, and also the village of Pizarra with Sierra Gibralmora and the El Santo statue in the background
