Sendero Puerto Málaga + Pico Mendoza, Mijas
This walk starts from the parking area next to the Mirador above Mijas Village.
Parking here is hard to find now since the pandemic. I would recommend parking at the multi-storey car park in the village (1 euro all day) and walking up a little from the car park to the start.
The Sendero Puerto Málaga starts a few hundred metres past the Calvario hermitage. It is a linear walk.
The route is well signposted and marked with blue circles. There is about 550m of climb on this route.
It is rocky and stony in places.
On a good day you will get some lovely views: the Riff Mountains, the Pillars of Hercules, Gibraltar, Málaga city and Sierra Nevada to name a few.
I added an extra extension which is not as hard as it looks to Pico Mendoza, also known as Cerro Málaga, where you will find the Banco de la Memoria. (A stone seat paying homage to the Alzheimer society).
