Sendero Puerto Saucillo – Puerto Bellina
Under normal conditions this circular walk is about 5km, but the Puerto Saucillo car park was closed (the access road is chained off until about the end of October, when there is less risk of a fire hazard).
We parked just below the chains where there is a small area of off road parking for approximately 6 cars. From here it is about 1.2km to Puerto Saucillo (all gently uphill).
Puerto Saucillo has a lovely Mirador with great views of Sierra Cabrilla and Sierra Prieta.
From the official start the walk is more the 90% in the shade. The trail passes through lovely dense forests and the first stop is the Pinsapo del Candelabro.
There are a few intersections here and there until you arrive to Puerto Bellina (unmarked except for a cairn of rocks). From here we took a little detour thinking there was a lookout point to the left but there wasn’t. Just past Puerto Bellina we came across some beautiful fur trees.
At the second intersection where you head back you pick up the Saucillo – Torrecilla trail. It was downhill from here most of the way back.
A lovely, peaceful route, with plenty of shade and great views.
