Itinerary description
Sunny day with a strong freezing wind blowing from the north in the highest parts of these mountains. There was very little snow left from last week's heavy snowfall that affected all this area. Snow here doesn't last long before melting. It's a circular route that starts going up the mountain gap carved by the steep "Ivy" creek, whose water flows underground. Then you cross the small depression of Juan Díaz to get to the "Gnome's Little House" and go back to the depression to finally climb up "Goats Peak" (4.200 feet), where the views are really good no matter where you look. On the way down I recommend a different route than the one I followed. There's an easier descent, but I was in a desperate rush to get out of the strong freezing wind and just cut through down the mountain. There were some exposed steps which I recommend to avoid.
