Itinerary:
The walk follows good tracks through pine woods with views of the mountains of La Sierra de las Nieves. It is an out and back walk with the turning point having views over Istán to Gibraltar (on a clear day). There are some medium inclines on the walk but all achievable if taken at a steady pace.
Directions to the Meeting Place
From the meeting place there is a drive (car sharing advised) to the starting point of the walk on the edge of La Sierra de las Nieves Natural Park.
From Marbella
Take the A355 towards Ojén. Continue past Ojén. At Kilometre 20 take the exit to Monda/Guaro. After 200m turn left under the bridge and follow the Monda/Guaro signs until the T junction in the centre of Monda. Turn left. 50 metres down the hill from here is a speed bump and La Jaula Bar. At this point turn sharp right into the car park.
From Coín/Alhaurín/Cártama
Take the A355 towards Marbella. After Kilometre 16 take the Monda exit. Follow the winding road into the centre of Monda. Keep to the right at the junction (following signs to Guaro). 50 metres down the hill from here is a speed bump and La Jaula Bar. At this point turn sharp right into the car park.
From here we leave Monda car park and Leave Monda towards Marbella on the A355.
About 1/2 a kilometre passing a big cut in the mountain for the road take the first turning on your right. Proceed on this road for 9km to a signed junction Tolox / Monda / Istan.
This is where the walk starts.

Easy to follow
Scenery
Easy
Very easy walk along a dirt road through some quite pretty countryside. No water at all along the route so take plenty if going with dogs. Be aware there were some cars and cyclists on the dirt road.
