Sierra de Mijas Walk No.2
This is part of a project I have decided to do. A project to map about
40 – 50 walks in the Sierra de Mijas mountains.
Starting from Alhaurin el Grande , moving my way to Mijas, then Osunillas, then Benalmadena, Torremolinos, Alhaurin la Torre and finally back to Alhaurin el Grande.
Some of the walks I have already done, and some I haven’t.
I won’t be including waypoints or photos except for new walks.
In-between this project I will still go further afield finding new areas to explore.
This walk is the Sendero del Conde
It is a circular walk on the north side of the Sierra de Mijas, mostly in the shade. It starts near the castle La Mota on the outskirts of Alhaurín el Grande.
A passage along undulating ground is followed by a climb up a dry riverbed. Most of the walk follows paths surrounded by trees so the silence of this forest track makes this walk particularly pleasant. When reaching the gap in the woods for the firebreak this is a good spot for a break, before completing the walk.
At times the path is rather uneven with loose rocks, so walking poles are recommended.
Directions to the Meeting Place
From Mijas
Take the A-387 towards Alhaurín el Grande. Shortly after the Alhaurín Golf Urbanisation, and just before the roundabout "Puerto de los Pescadores", with the BP garage and Venta Los Morenos, there is a KM 3 sign. On the right there is some waste land where it is possible to park. This is the meeting place.
From Fuengirola
Take the A-7053 towards Alhaurín el Grande. At the roundabout "Puerto de los Pescadores", with the BP garage and Venta Los Morenos, take the first road on the right towards Mijas (A-387). After a few 100 metres there is a KM 10 sign. On the left there is some waste land where it is possible to park. This is the meeting place.
From Marbella
Taking the A-355, turn off onto the MA 3303 to Mijas/Fuengirola and continue until the roundabout with Venta Los Morenos and the BP garage. Turn right at the roundabout onto the A-387 towards Mijas. After a few 100 metres there is a KM 10 sign. On the left there is some waste land where it is possible to park. This is the meeting place.
