Sierra de Mijas Walk No. 3 - Sendero del Conde Extended Version
This is part of a project I have decided to do. A project to map about
40 – 50 walks in the Sierra de Mijas mountains.
Starting from Alhaurin el Grande , moving my way to Mijas, then Osunillas, then Benalmadena, Torremolinos, Alhaurin la Torre and finally back to Alhaurin el Grande.
Some of the walks I have already done, and some I haven’t.
I won’t be including waypoints or photos except for new walks.
In-between this project I will still go further afield finding new areas to explore.
Sendero del Conde Extended Version
This is a circular hike, mostly in the shade, on the north side of the Sierra de Mijas, starting near the water reservoir/castle on the outskirts of Alhaurín el Grande.
The route begins with some undulations and a climb up a dry riverbed. Most of the hike runs along trails surrounded by trees. The silence of the forest track makes this walk very enjoyable. Arriving at the fire break, where, of course, the trees are cut down, there will be a break.
At the intersection to extend the walk take the path on your left and follow this all the way down to Altavista, then turning right to bring you back to the parking area.
Sometimes the path is quite uneven with loose rocks, so walking poles are recommended.
Directions to the meeting place
Take the A-387 towards Alhaurín el Grande. Shortly after the Alhaurin Golf Urbanization, just after the Km3 sign and just before the roundabout ("Puerto de los Pescadores", with the BP garage and Venta Los Morenos). Just after a blue gas sign, there is some vacant lot on the right where it is possible to park. This is the meeting place and the beginning of the hike.
From Fuengirola
Take the A-7053 towards Alhaurín el Grande. At the roundabout "Puerto de los Pescadores", with the BP garage and Venta Los Morenos, take the first street on the right towards Mijas (A-387). After 300 meters there is a sign Mijas KM 10. On the left there are some vacant lots where it is possible to park. This is the meeting place.
