Sierra de Mijas Walk No. 4 - Pecho de los Lobos Circuit

5.5km
Max Elevation 630m
Min Elevation 356m
Elevation Gain/Loss 299m

This is part of a project I have decided to do. A project to map about
40 – 50 walks in the Sierra de Mijas mountains.

Starting from Alhaurin el Grande , moving my way to Mijas, then Osunillas, then Benalmadena, Torremolinos, Alhaurin la Torre and finally back to Alhaurin el Grande.

Some of the walks I have already done, and some I haven’t.
I won’t be including waypoints or photos except for new walks.

In-between this project I will still go further afield finding new areas to explore.

With the main road behind you walk up to the post Llano de la Venta, then carry on straight ahead.
You will see a second post with white and red markings . The path will veer to the right, carrying on turn left at the intersection. You will see a warning sign for beehives. The hives are 40m to your left and they shouldn’t cause any problems.

This first section is all uphill. Soon the gradient gets a bit steeper and starts to zig-zag.
Eventually you get to an opening in the woods (17min) where you get a lovely view of Alhaurin Golf, with the Sierra Alpujata in the background, and also views of the coast.

Eventually you arrive at an intersection with a cairn that has a wooden post in the middle (24min).

Keep going straight ahead crossing a firebreak (36min). If you now look behind you, you will see the highest mountain in the vicinity Torrecilla (1919m).
The path now starts its descent (50min) eventually coming to a gravel road (Pista Sur) (1hr 2min). It is a bit steep getting onto the path, there is a tree at the junction where you can use its roots to climb down.
Continue straight ahead. Just before you come to the main road (A 387) there is an electric pylon where you turn sharp right and take the small path (1hr 13min), which leads back to the start (1hr 46min)
