Itinerary description
A very scenic hike in the mountains south of Cape Town. The entrance to Silvermine Nature Reserve is marked, it is west off of Ou Kaapseweg and a fee applies. The path is easy to follow has markers at intersections and while there is some elevation there is nothing too hard to handle. There are multiple places with great views of the Atlantic, False Bay and beautiful beaches at Nordhoek and Hout Bay.
Elephant's Eye is an impressive cave that has nice vistas to Cape Town's southern suburbs. The hike also has a small lake where the Silvermine River is dammed and I enjoyed a swim there near the end of the hike.
Very worthwhile, a lot of great views without too much work. I recommend it! Don't forget to bring a towel.
