Itinerary description
Hiking to Trolltunga, using the bus to go til parking area P3 (after the 4 km uphill) - unless you really have extra energy to burn, it is totally worthwhile the 130 NOK per person. Don't forget to book online, since you have priority to board the vans: it gets really crowded in a sunny summer morning, right at 8:00.
If you are by car, it compensates to book the P3 parking, since you would pay 600 NOK, while P2 costs 500 NOK. However, you have to book 3 days in advance.
Using the van, the first 3 km are the hardest, with the 3rd really uphill. After that you face some ups and downs, but moderate. There is natural water available almost through the entire way.
Plan to stop for a snack and enjoy the view around the 6th km, where you start to have the stunning view of the water down the fjords.
Expect a huge (+1 hour) line if you want to have that Instagram picture of you jumping (or something else, like getting naked, as happened today) over the Trolltunga.
It's totally worth the effort. You see people of all ages, from little babies on their parents back, to elders full of energy. During a hot summer day you never get alone in the trail, which is well signed with some plates, poles, graffiti over the rocks and those little rock towers. Following the trail in Wikiloc always helps to keep you in track of the progress.
