SL-A 228 Sendero Cruz del Padre Ventura, Tolox
This linear walk starts on the outskirts of Tolox where you have a better chance of parking.
This walk takes you to the shrine and Mirador Cruz del Padre Ventura. (I couldn’t find any information on who the Father Ventura was).
The official route SL-A 228 starts from Plaza Alta and goes up Camino de la Cruz (uphill most of the way but not too difficult). From the beginning of the walk there are a few ups and downs, and passing a fountain, making your way to Plaza Constitoria and the Town hall, and then around the corner to Plaza Alta where there is a small ‘Palace’ on your left and the town stage on your right, with a few bars splattered around.
From here make your way down to the river Horcajos to pick up the official start of the sendero (2km return trip). There are 14 iron crosses marking the sacramental stations of Christ. You also pass a lot of Carob, Oak, Almond and olive trees on the way up. The Peridotite terrain isn’t in the best condition, so take care underfoot in places.
When you arrive at the shrine and the Mirador the views of Tolox are very good, with Torrecilla on your right, Sierra Pardo in front of you and the Guadalhorce valley to the left.
There is a good selection of bars in the village on the return back if you want to stop of for refreshments.
