Itinerary description

In Cernova village we visited birthplace of Andrej Hlinka. A. Hlinka was a Slovak Catholic priest, journalist, banker and politician, one of the most important Slovak public activists in Czechoslovakia before the Second World War. Cernova massacre was a shooting that happened in Cernova, Austria- Hungary on 27 October 1907 in which 15 people were killed and many were wounded after gendarmes fired into a crowd of people who gathered for the consecration of the local Catholic church. The victims of this massacre have the monument on the local cemetery. Cernova is a part of the town of Ruzomberok. Our trip continued to the lake called "Hrabovo", here we can find beautiful place for relax, accomodation in the nature like hotels, apartments and cottages. Near the lake there is a cablecar and on the top of the hill is a ski resort called "Malinô Brdo". Almost three kilometres from the ski resort there is a beautiful traditional village Vlkolinec. Vlkolinec has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1993, and is one of ten Slovak villages that have been given the status of a folk architecture reservations. Over the Vlkolinec is a hill caled "Sidorovo".
