Itinerary description
This hike starts at “Shaar Ashmadai” (devil ‘s gate). The first part goes through different structures of the Maktesh and different colors of the sand due to the minerals it contains. A steep incline of Maale Hazira takes you to the edge of the
Maktesh. From there a stunning hike along the edge: on your right side the view of the Maktesh. On your left side: the view of the Dead Sea and the Arava. The trail continues in a steep downhill in the Wadi Mazar.
