Itinerary description
There are regularly ferries from both Central and Aberdeen to Sok Kwu Wan on Lamma island. At the ferry pier, turn right and walk through the row of seafood restaurants. Pause at the Tin Hau temple to visit the huge Oar Fish (very rare) which has been pickled and out on display inside. Then go up the hill to the pagoda on the ridge, up a bit more on the right and then down to the left on a narrow path to Sham Wan and Turtle beach. IMPORTANT - the beach is closed to people and boats during green turtle nesting season which runs from June until October. After a dip in the sea, continue the hike on the footpath to the right of the turtle watching station which goes to Tung O village and Shek Pai Wan where there are a couple of shops and cafes, and a place to hire open kayaks. The path continues to Mo Tat Wan village where there are ferries to Aberdeen, and then on to Sok Kwu Wan with its many good restaurants and ferry back to central.
