Itinerary description
Puig de sa Gubia (599m) via Son Nassi route - Puig de n’Angelé (968m) - Alquería d’Avall-Raixa road loop back.
15.8km, 947m ascent. Fun, scenic and technically easy though comfort route finding using milestones needed.
Starting from the the Ca'n Penasso car park, cross the Ma-11 road which connects Palma with the Port of Sóller and start up the asphalt road that leads to the Son Nassi property.
At the end of the asphalt you start up a path that is a bit unclear at the very beginning but then well marked with rock milestones the rest of the way up Puig de sa Gubia. Along the path you pass a rock hut and a well-preserved bread oven. After winding around the side of the mountain the route turns to the right and ascends a steep slope with no path but still rock milestones. At the top of this section, at the coll between Puig de Son Nassi and Puig de sa Gubia, is a large metal botador. After crossing, continue to the left parallel to the stone wall and following milestones until you reach to intersection of the main path and go left up to Puig de Sa Gubia. Just past the summit is the Mirador de Leandro Ximenis for expansive views.
Head down back past the trail intersection and continue descending until the Alquería d’Avall-Raixa road. Here is the commemorative plaque to Leandro Ximenis. Take this dirt road to the left until you see the “Porxo des Ponet” to the right of the road, then here veer right onto a wide, rocky track - the Camí de sa Plana. Further on you pass a large lime kiln and a well-preserved old porx, continue as the track gets rockier then ends and you ascend using rock milestones to the top of Puig de n’Angelé (968 m) and then to Puig de sa Font (966 m). altitude. I missed most of the beautiful views due to the cloud so will have to return.
The route back follows the same way as the ascent until you reach the point where the commemorative plaque to Leandro Ximenis is located, from there continue down along the Alquería d’Avall-Raixa road which switchbacks down to the Ma-11 road, Palma-Puerto de Sóller. Along the way are views of Puig de Son Nassi and the Puig de Son Poc and a little offering to a virgin tugged in a rock crevice.
At the end of the Sa Alquería d'Avall there is a short stretch of cement path to the Ma-11 road, Palma-Puerto de Sóller, at kilometer point 15.8. Back to the starting point parking lot (not recorded on this map) is about 1km.
