Itinerary description
Circular walk back of La Cala, Mijas
From the watch tower we head towards Avenida El Limonan,
Going under the N340 flyover, with Mercadona on your right. About ½ Km
Up ahead take the Camino Sorroche path on your left. The 15 minute
Climb to the top of the hill is steepish until we arrive at the famous pine tree El Pino Piñero. (A good spot for a group picture).
Going downhill has loose stones. A steepish decline (advisable to zig zag our way down this with short strides).
We then come to an area of cork trees. (Cork grows every 9 years. The cork is the tree’s protection against fire. Unfortunately this whole area was badly affected by fire in 2014).
Carry on past some dwellings and cross over the road onto Camino los
Morena. Take a sharp right turn over the streambed Arroyo de la
Reyalengua. This area has Australian eucalyptus trees.
Keep walking along this path until you get to the main road.
