Itinerary description

Long, hard walk from le Tardoun just north of Braux to Aurent, to the sources du Coulomp and back via col du Fa. Drive up to Braux and in the village you have to turn right at the mairie and then left to Chabrieres. The road goes up for another km and from there it is a piste. You can drive there but you have to do it slow and careful. Halfway there is "la pierre qui tremble", a big rock balancing on another one. Nice to stop and take a look. Park at the bridge, cross the bridge and take the path to Argenton. Follow this path till you get to a crossing and take the turn to the right. From here you have to be careful. the walk continues over narrow, gravelly paths to the village of Aurent. Cross the bridge and follow the path to the left through to bushes to sources du Coulomp. After app. 1 km the path is very steep up for about 20 minutes. Then fairly flat over narrow ridges to the origin of the river Coulomp. You can take a bath here but it is not very comfortable(cold). Lunchtime here? Continue a bit further and take the small steep path down through the grass before reaching the bottom of this marvelous 100 mtr high waterfall. Follow the river(cross it a few times, but be careful, stones in the Coulomp can be slippery! to the point were you went steep up and continue to Aurent. From Aurent, take the big bridge to Col du Fa and walk back to your car at pont de Chabrieres. We walked this one with our daughters(9,11) on a very hot day. There is enough fresh water along the route so don`t take too much yourself. 24 km, 1200 hm, 10 hours. Dont`t be misled by the figures in the trailoverview. The trail itself it`s accurate, but the length and HM aren`t.
