Itinerary description

This is a spectacular overnight, coastal and wetland walk. It includes a diverse range of ecosystems including lakes, ocean side heath, bushland, rainforest, tall eucalyptus forest, Noosa river and everglades. Highlights include coastal views and the Cooloola Sandpatch. We started at Elanda Point with a trip across Lake Cootharaba by boat to Teewah landing and then followed the Cooloola Great Walk to campsite 3 on the Noosa River. A track heads South along the river as far as Harry's Hut where a swim is required to get across. Then follow the Cooloola Wilderness Trail back to Elanda Point via Fig Tree Point and Kin Kin Creek. Each day took around 6 hours walking.

Looks like an excellent hike. Did you have a friend take you by boat from Elanda Point to Teewah landing or is there a taxi service?

We caught a water taxi from The Elanda Point campground, which has since changed hands. Webpage for the new operator is:
    https://www.habitatnoosa.com.au
Not sure whether they still provide to same service.

Is another option from Boreen Point.
It really a beautiful part of SEQ, recommend walking in cooler months.

The Kin-Kin bridge is currently down and under repair when I last saw it January 2018. Check with National Parks for current update. Kin kin creek would be very muddy and messy to swim across.

We camped one night at campsite 3. Moderately long days, but relatively easy walking.

Thanks Mark. What about water sources apart from the obvious Noosa river?

There are water tanks on the toilets at campsite 3, Harry’s Hut and Fig Tree along the River. I presume there is also water at the Brahminy Great Walk campsite. The river is fairly fresh at campsite 3 but becomes brackish as yet get further downstream towards the Lake.
