Itinerary description

This was a challenging and interesting traverse of Japan's Southern Alps. It is a variant of the walk described in Lonely Planets Guide to hiking in Japan. The walk included a number of Japans top 100 peaks, woodlands, autumn leaves and river crossings. Mt Ontake could be seen erupting on the horizon. We spent the third night in an Emergency Shelter as typhoon Vongfong passed over. Special thanks to Mat our Japanese speaking guide.

    Hi, and many thanks

I've done the same thing but I would like a real paper map, with (if possible) the gps lines. I think it could be this one (https://www.amazon.co.jp/2016/dp/4398763015/ref=dp_ob_title_bk) but I'm not sure

oh, I just noticed that you added the GPS grid. Can you tell me how you did it and what is the datum used?

    Thank you.

Hi Vgay, the datum is WGS84, I use a program called oziexplorer to georeference and process. I print on national geographic adventure paper (works in inkjet printer) which waterproof and all but indestructible.

Thank you. I know oziexplorer, but it's not easy to run it under Linux. I'll try again. Or use your maps :-)
