Itinerary description

Way too much to say in this one other than if attempting make sure you that you are competent and gave your research done

Waypoints

PictographLake Altitude 2,914 ft

Pigsty ponds ( campsite )

This would be a good sheltered site around the tarns so plenty of water

Mt La peruse summit

Nice east side trip and well worth it as the summit cairn is mighty impressive … continue to cliff line to get views of lake below

Pindars summit

Nice Boulder hop up to summit, not a difficult scramble to the summit and in fine weather would have amazing views

Pandani knob

Also possible camp site. From here the bush gets thick all the way to wylly plateau

Tea tree saddle

This is a relatively sheltered campsite and does offer a place to collect water from small tarns. In dry weather water may not be present though.

Mt wylly

My gps paused here but there are many ways up and down this rock scramble, just pick your path and go for it.

Mt Victoria cross

Quite a challenging side trip, takes awhile to find your way and sidling around to the right on the approach is slow, lively peak though and on the way across the saddle there are tarns to fill up water from

Low camp

Camp offers little in the way of water as far as I could see but there was water flowing from pb as I ascended

Precipitous bluff summit

From low camp relatively straightforward actually. Once you reach a high camp it’s just the 20 min trip to the summit

Cavern camp

From 100m to 0m I wouldn’t go by my gps. Follow ribbons all the way from cliff line. Descent to here from summit is a slow affair. Quite technical as you drop down

New river crossing intersection point

From cavern camp to here is best hikes at low tide. There are 3 river mouths to negotiate and you may have to hike inland upstream to cross. Other option is to pack raft all the way out to this campsite to join the SCT
