Itinerary description
One of the most talked hike in the UAE. Hike you should not underestimate. Luckily they developed the trail and it’s now well marked path so getting lost is impossible and added some rails for safety protections for the hikers. The distance might not be that long but it’s the elevation that will challenge you. And they were right when they say it’s not an easy or moderate hike. Not for beginners definitely! Hiking poles would be very helpful and a proper hiking shoes/boots. Bring lots of water for this 3-4L and food or snacks you’ll need it as it is a long hike. Same challenge you’ll get in descending and prepare for a leg day! I would suggest to start early morning as soon as the trail will be visible. 4x4 is necessary if you want to park on the trailhead. The road here is tough for Sedan cars or you can also park near in the dam which is safe for the small cars and walk maybe about 2km till the starting point of the hike. We started around 7:10 and finished at 3pm. Took us 4hrs to reach the summit Woh village, and if you’re fast enough you’ll reach the starting point in 3hrs. But the reading of the wikiloc movement kinda weird only 3hrs. Anyway Happy hiking!

Thanks a lot Ann for the idea , I loved the hike and as you said it is not for beginners.
Thanks Lulu for the review. Yes we both loved this hike. Wish to revisit this place and prepare my legs for it haha!
I’m looking to follow your route. Is it difficult because it’s fitness challenging or is it because it’s dangerous? Did you need ropes? Can I have a bit more info if possible?
Hi Dave. It’s not dangerous at all and ropes will be unnecessary. They have developed the trail to STH. Yes it’s not easy but of course it’s doable. If you are an experienced hiker here in the UAE then surely you can do this trail as well. Let me know how’s your experience on one. Happy hiking! 😀

Hi dave , to answer your question. Not dangerous , no need ropes of hiking poles ( it would not be easier because of the size of the rocks on the trail ) as ann said if you are experience hiker would not be a problem. Suggest like we did to start early in the morning and bring at least 4 litters of water.
Querida amiga:
Cordiales saludos
Hi Rattle i hope i could translate your comment to English so I could understand it 😬
Dear friend:
Congratulations on your hike.
You have a little mistake. You didn't make it to Woh's village. Woh village is on the Omani side, very close to the border. Exactly at the coordinates 25.989689, 56.188975
It is reached through the left bank of the STH.
The village you reached is called Ras Al Ghash
greetings
Thank you for your clarification I appreciate that 😀
Hi Ann, well done! Congratulations! I walked this route as part of a 24,3 K hike in one day making a loop. But really it was a nightmare! It was terrible! Take care! Greetings.
Hey Faik! What is a 24, 3k hike? Is that the spartan challenge here in UAE? And how the hell did you manage to hike that in one day? Haha God you must be related to Superman lol! Kudos to you 👏
