Itinerary description

did this is 2017 - an excellent round trip over a weekend. Requires a 4WD to access the start at the end of Emu Creek road. I recommend to drive up on Friday afternoon and camp the night for an early start the next morning. Te view from the top of the Steamers is the highlight.

Hi mate in your opinion which is the easiest route, clockwise or CCW?

We did this track in the clockwise direction and did go to the stern mid June 2020, the track has had very little traffic in the last 10 weeks of covid19 . The loop itself is challenging with some track is non existent, it throws some vertical rock scrambling at you. Comparing to other hiking here and oversea I found the scenery limited to the pictures that everyone posts and between these is a lot of bush navigational challenge.

We did this trail a couple of years ago. We traveled in an anti clockwise direction which we thought was the best way to go but probably doesn’t matter. We visited the Lincoln bomber on the first day with a campsite nearby. There is no water on the mountain so take plenty of water for the whole Trip. Amazing view at Lizards and and an iconic view of the steamers on the third. We in countered a vertical abseil point coming off the Funnel which delayed us as we hesitated. Great circuit thoroughly enjoyed it.

I followed this trail yesterday as a day hike anticlockwise. The first 20km was fantastic and we found water from the exact marked location. the trail is very well marked and it took little to no navigation. However do not attempt the steamers descent towards emu creek road!!! The bush is completely overgrown with gympie gympie and nettle.
