Itinerary description

The Stor - Kjølen mount is a medium-sized summit (alt. 790m). Located in the North of Kvaløja island, 20 minutes far from Tromsø city by car (road FV58). It is kinda iconic mountain for the locals as its climbing is rather easy and it offers great 360° panoramic view all over surrounding fjords, islands and mountains. Near the white bulbous-shaped flight radar station at the top, there is also an unlocked refuge that can be useful for some rest.

No signposted trail here but the way is quite well marked by the many walkers all year long.

Easy parking near the Finnikvatnet lake, just in front of the start.
