Itinerary description
We were a family of six walking this demanding and at times badly marked path to Styggedalsbreen. There are breathtaking views of lakes, streams and valleys along the way. You need to look for the ”stone on stone” markings when you break left for the glacier - the path cannot be found for approximately 700 meters and then it is still hard to trace.
ONCE AT THE GLACIER YOU CAN’T CROSS THE WATER AND YOU NEED TO BACK TRACK. It is a petty that a small footpath bridge hasn’t been made as you could then do a loop via the transport gravel road.
Even in early July, it gets quite cold and windy at the top, so bring gloves and warm clothes. Walking sticks are super useful - try them once and you will always use them in terrain like this.
Enjoy…
