SUI-06 Gornergrat y lago Riffel // Gornergrat and Riffel lake

<<< English follows >>> Esta es, probablemente, una de las rutas más emblemáticas que se pueden puede hacer cuando visitas Zermatt. Consiste en subir en tren desde Zermatt hasta Gornergrat. Tendrás acceso a alguna de las mejores vistas del Matterhorn y, lo que es mejor aún, tendrás a esta gran montaña a la vista durante todo el día, para disfrutarla desde muchos lugares. El tren te permite subir y bajar en varias estaciones y, también, realizar a pie alguno de los tramos. En nuestro caso, nosotros hicimos lo siguiente: 1) Cogimos el tren en Zermatt a las 07:00 con destino Gornergrat pero nos bajamos del tren una estación antes de llegar a la cima; nos bajamos en Rotenboden. Junto a esa estación está el famoso lago Riffel. Sólo hay que descender unos pocos metros para llegar a él. En ese lago, si la visivilidad lo permite y no sopla viento, se pueden sacar fotos preciosas del Matterhorn. Echamos al aire el dron en este punto. La visivilidad era perfecta y el Matterhorn no tuvo una sola nube en toda la jornada. 2) De vuelta en la estación de Rotenboden, tomamos el siguiente tren ascendente para llegar a la cima, a Gornegrat. 3) En Gornergrat se tienen espectaculares vistas del glaciar y se puede dar un paseo por los alrededores. Aquí volvimos a volar el dron. En la cima hay un hotel que tiene dos llamativas bóvedas astronómicas. Estamos a poco más de 3000 metros de altitud. 4) Tomamos de nuevo el tren para descender y nos volvemos a bajar en Rotenboden (sólo pagamos ese trayecto). En Rotenboden iniciamos el descenso a pie hasta la estación del tren de Riffelberg. Camino de monte con pista de tierra, cómoda de caminar. Junto a la estación de Riffelberg hay un establecimiento en el que puedes disfrutar de un desayuno. Al fin y al cabo, esta jornada empieza muy temprano... 5) Tomamos el siguiente tren que pase por Riffelberg hacia abajo y nos bajamos en Riffelalp, pagando sólo ese tramo. 6) Desde Riffelalp hasta la estación final de Zermatt hacemos todo el camino a pie, entre bosques de pinos, siempre descendiendo. Esta pista es ancha y suave, con hojas de pino en el suelo. Está bien indicada pero es conveniente ir pendiente de los cruces. Esta parte de la ruta entre pinos es mucho más agradable que la zona superior, en la que todo eran los espacios abiertos y romos típicos de las estaciones de esquí en verano. Resumiendo, es una ruta sencilla y que te permite disfrutar del Matterhorn, si es que el Matterhorn se deja ver, claro. <<< English >>> This is, probably, one of the most emblematic routes that can be done when you visit Zermatt. It consists of going up by train from Zermatt to Gornergrat. You will have access to some of the best views of the Matterhorn and, what is even better, you will have this great mountain in sight throughout the day, to enjoy it from many places. The train allows you to get on and off in several stations and, also, to walk on foot any of the sections. In our case, we did the following: 1) We took the train at Zermatt station at 07:00 bound to Gornergrat but we got off the train one station before reaching the top; we got off at Rotenboden station. Next to that station is the famous Lake Riffel. You only have to descend a few meters to reach it. In that lake, if visibility is good and there is no wind, you can take beautiful pictures of the Matterhorn. We flew the drone at this point. The visibility was perfect and the Matterhorn had not a single cloud in the whole day. 2) Back at the Rotenboden station, we took the next ascending train to reach the top, to Gornegrat. 3) In Gornergrat you have spectacular views of the glacier and you can take a walk in the surroundings. Here we flew the drone again. At the top there is a hotel that has two striking astronomical domes. We are just over 3000 meters above sea level. 4) We took the train again to descend and got off at Rotenboden station (we only paid for that ride). In Rotenboden we started the descent on foot to the Riffelberg train station. It's a mountain path with earth track, comfortable to walk. Next to the Riffelberg station there is an establishment where you can enjoy breakfast. After all, this journey started very early ... 5) We took the next train that goes down through Riffelberg and we got off at Riffelalp station, paying only that ride. 6) From Riffelalp to the final station of Zermatt we went all the way on foot, among pine forests, always descending. This track is wide and smooth, with pine leaves on the ground. It is well signaled but it is convenient to look carefully for the path crosses. This part of the route among pines is much more pleasant than the upper trail, where everything was the typical open and blunt spaces of the ski resorts in summer. In short, it is a easy route that allows you to enjoy the Matterhorn, if the Matterhorn is visible, of course.
