Itinerary description
It looks like this month is all about breaking my own records! The last one was almost deadly, beautiful still.
The plan is to get trained on our plan for sea to summit that will take place after a couple of weeks, it will be a 75km from the port to Qrnet L sawda!
The initial plan included Sannine summit, but the fog that covered the area while we were hiking prevented it ( thank God! =)).
We started at Baskinta, with a small descent, were greeted with the sound of the river stream, once we finished our descent we crossed a bridge, watch out there is a big hole on the left side of the bridge.
Passed by an old ruin, from there we moved on to Wadi L deleb and visited Saydet el khelle church. Beautiful smalla church with a beautiful surroundings.
Started our ascent to Zaarour Summit, 2000m ascent, wasn’t easy, and too long, push yourself harder the view is breath taking. Once reached to the summit, we really enjoyed the view, the fog was overpowering, yet it was super amazing!
From there we started our descent to Majdal Tarchish, on our way we came across an endangered snake species, it is called Levant Rat Snake, really beautiful and magnificent.
Majdal Tarshish is one of my favorite spots, very rich of caves and waterfalls. And wooden bridge that i really love.
At this point we have crossed 20km and tiredness started to kick in. Still we had 15km to go, went all the way mamboukh crossing Aintoura and Wadi Elamin, reached the Olac around 4:30PM, started our descent towards Mamboukh. Please note that i have crossed from a risky passage, please don’t follow my lead in this section, 5m to the back you’ll find a safer bridge to pass through.
In this area you’ll find a walnuts tree, beautiful, enjoy it, you’ll pass through different beautiful ruins.
In Manboukh you’ll be crossing over pipelines, plz use the chains and cross safely.
Sun started to set, and we wanted to pick up our pace back to the car before it’s dark.
At this point i had no energy left to take any pictures. But i can promise you this will be one of you favorite hikes minus the exhaustion you’ll feel at the end and after while recovering.
Rami Rachkidi never fails to amaze me with his beautiful hiking plans and trekking.
Enjoy the trail, be safe, and please keep our Lebanon clean.
