Itinerary description
The area behind Mt Tamborine presents an interesting walking area. The slopes leading up to Mt Tamborine are covered in Eucalypt Forest interspersed with grass trees. The track and trails are mostly clear but can become difficult to follow in the wet season. In the area just below the road leading up to Mt Tamborine many exposed granite sections show the glint of quartz when exposed to the sunlight.
There are two sections of off trail walking necessary to complete the loop. Both off trail sections are relatively easy to follow with the first following a trail alongside an existing fire trail on a adjoining property and the second being a cut across a corner of the tracks.
The trial begins from the sign along Beenleigh Beaudesert road indicating the start of Mt Tamborine Corbould section. The initial trail follows alongside construction property and the back of a farmer's property out to the outer edge of the National Park.
From there you proceed up until you hit a fence where the adjoining farmer has put a lot of very interesting words together to warn people to not exit his property. You follow this fenceline along the fence until you hit a sign indicating the start of the National Park.
From there you proceed up the climbing track enter through the predominant grass tree Eucalypt area. You stick on this track through some very up and down steep sections to eventually connect with a track that rejoins the road to MtTamborine.
Rather than proceed up to the road you turn right and follow the interesting trailthrough an area of granite exposed sections. This will eventually lead to a number of Creek crossings and the second off trail section.
The conclusion of the hike requires paying attention to turns in the track to eventually need you to the trail that returns to the start.
