Itinerary description
A different and very nice hike in Abel Tasman Park. It starts off on the usual route and then heads inland and up. You lose the crowds, get some really nice views and it is a little more challenging for those who are up for it.
The track was in remarkably good shape following two solid days of rain and was well signed, so very easy to follow. Hiking poles helped me, use signage times for a better indication of how long your hike will take.
If you are looking for a different hike with a lot fewer people this one's for you. Great panoramic views in a couple of spots, a shelter with water and outhouse at the Holyoake hut, washrooms and parking at the start/finish.
