Itinerary description
This immensely beautiful walk starts at the outskirts of Tavernes de la Valldigna. The first 2 kilometers go through orange groves and at the edge of these groves a very pleasant track gradually winds itself zigzagging up to a heighth of 260 metres, giving you wonderfil views towards the coast and to Tavernes de la Valldigna.
Once at this height you will walk through a very green and open scenery and still gradually you will ascend to 340 metres at which point you will come upon a much wider track that will take you t a plateau, Pla des Cucóns, at 400 metres which wil give you magnificent all round views.
From this plateau the track descends, first gently and later steeper and rockier, to the two ruins of the casles, Castell de Marinyen and Castell de la Reina Mora at 200 metres.
The first glimpses of these ruins, perched on a hill top are imposing and this will remain so until you actually reach the site.
At the ruins, you will easily find places to sit and enjoy the extensive view into the valley towards Benifairó de la Valdigna and Simat de la Valldigna.
From there the track becomes steeper and rockier and zigzags itself tp the orange groves at the bottom of the hill.
Reaching the road you can follow it through and along the orange groves back to Tavernes de la Valldigna.

Thanks for the trail. Staying often in Tavernes I never before went up this side of the mountain. I followed your trail and a nice surprise was the castle! Only the last part I took my own route back through the orange fields. Great walk. Tnx!
Thanks for your reaction. Yes, for us the Castle was a very nice surprise too!

Thank you, we went in a group of 5 and really enjoyed this hike. The ruins of the castle are truly magical and a highlight of the whole route for us. I also enjoyed how the route changes environments, and the magical views of the sea.
Maybe a bit of warning for others, be prepared that the second part of the hike is largely through an exposed area with very few shadows, so better bring good sun protection! We came prepared and it was not a problem.
Thanks very much for your reaction 😊. We liked this hike for precisely the same reasons!
