Itinerary description
Variation of Tenerife's GR-131, including detours and bus/taxi transfers due to the recent forest fires of summer 2023:
We commenced our journey in Arona, trekking to Vilaflor and then onward to Parador de Cañadas del Teide, with a brief detour to Paisaje Lunar. After ascending Teide, we returned to the coastline, descending to Los Morales. Following uneventful and rather dull strolls interspersed with bus rides, we arrived at the charming town of Güímar. Utilizing a taxi service to reach the El Gaitero watchtower, we descended via narrow forest trails all the way to Candelaria. The final leg of our week-long hiking adventure encompassed the section from Barranco El Hondo to La Esperanza.
