The Coin Fire Lookout
This shortish linear walk goes to the best lookout point in Coin – namely the fire lookout.
There is off road parking at the start of the walk, just off of the MA 3303.
Take the path parallel with the road which will eventually veer right into the woods. Follow this all the way past a cave lower down on your right until you pick up the Cerro Alaminos track, where your turn right.
At a bend go up the embankment shortcut then go left onto the gravel road. There is a mild climb uphill, but nothing too strenuous. The track zig-zags before reaching the lookout, which is a great spot for a picnic.
There are amazing views from here looking down over Barranco Blanco, the German Valley and the Sierra Alpujata. To the left you have the Sierra de Mijas with La Bola on the summit.
Viewing from the Alhaurin el Grande side you have all the mountain ranges west of Málaga.
This walk has about 95% shade and should be suitable for dogs.
A short walk, with great views.
Walking boots would be preferable because of the stony terrain in places, although I had no problems with trainers.
We decided after the walk to have a nice breakfast at Casa de las Flores garden centre a five minute drive away.
