I followed this guide: Hadrian's Wall Path: National Trail Guide (National Trail Guides) - Anthony Burton. The guide is complete and the path is very well marked, so it is difficult to get lost. However, there was not a regulated camp site at the end of each section and as I didn’t want to wild camp, I had to look for other types of accommodation for a couple of nights. The options were two: walking further to reach the nearest camp site, or staying in a hostel or B&B. I chose the second which was not easy because most B&B and hostels along the trail were fully-booked during the summer. Most walkers book their accommodation moths in advance.
For instance, in the case of section 3, the guide suggests to end the section in Steel Rigg, that is a wonderful place, but it’s far away (at least 1 mile) from the nearest accommodation.
As a walker carrying the tent in my backpack, I can only recommend you the following camp sites:
Section 2/3 Wall (Hexham) -> you can camp for free only one night on Wall Village Green (toilets available)
Section 3/4 Once Brewed -> you can camp on Twice Brewed PUB
Section 4/5 Banks -> your best and only possibility is Querry Side campsite
