Itinerary description
Very lovely walk through local north Italy! We reached the starting point by train from Turin. You pass by a beautiful lake and then reach a lovely little village at the foot of Mount Pirchiriano.
From here, you take a steep donkey path up to the impressive Sacra San Michele. This impressive abbey served as inspiration for the novel 'The Name Of The Rose' by Umberto Eco, and it surely has the mysterious feel of that story. On the path up you will pass the 15 'Stations of the Cross'. We also visited this abbey which welcomes you via the chilly 'Scalone dei Morti' ("Stairway of the Dead").
The way down is again very lovely, meandering through forest.

Piacevole percorso che unisce diversi punti d'interesse della Bassa Val di Susa. Molto utile la partenza e l'arrivo dalle stazioni per chi arriva da Torino. Consigliato!
