Itinerary description
þríhyrningur means "three peaks mountain" in Islandic, due to the three main peaks on its top. There is a marked path leading to the top, starting from the parking lot at the end of the road (see waypoint). However, I came walking from the forestry center of Tumastaðir (see waypoint), so I took a "shortcut" through the fields (instead of walking along the road up to the parking lot). For the way down I decided to take all the marked path down to the parking lot. Then I walked all the way back to the road 261.
The view from the top of this mountain is really good. With good weather you can see Hekla volcano, Eyjafjallajökull volcano, and Mýrdalsjökull glacier.
