The second day of the Monte Rosa Tour.
The path is rather straightforward and topographically easy: simply head northwest from Saas-Fee and in a few minutes you will be standing at the Hohneggweg crossroad; now, go north by following all the indications to Grächen. This pathway is called Höhenweg and consists in traversing the western slopes of the Mischabel Massif (encompassing the only 4000+ peaks not located along the Alpine divide). No particular technical difficulties are found here, as long as you are aware that 50-60% of the route is exposed on the right, meaning: if you suffer from altitude sickness, why the hell have you decided to walk the Monte Rosa Tour?
The environment is variegated: meadows, larch groves and scree fields, on which try not to linger. All, while keeping on sight the fabulous glaciers of the area and, potentially, spotting some not-so-timid steinbock.
At the end, around Hannigalp, you can choose to take a cablecar to Grächen or hike downhill along a tractorable road.
