Itinerary description
From the main plaza in front of the Iglesia San Miguel, follow the signs for the Sendero Virgen de las Nieves and Sendero Rio de los Horcajos. The streets soon descend towards the river and you pass many pretty gardens and old watermills. These two paths are well signposted. We took the Sendero Rio de los Horcajos on the way out - it has some rough and narrow stretches and a couple o short but steep climbs, but these are worth it for the close up views of the river and the constant accompaniement of the sound of the river and singing of birds and crickets (in June in our case.) We stopped in the picnic area at the Hermitage of the Virgen de las Nieves to soak in the smell of pines, the sound of the birds and the views of Torecilla looming over the valley. We could have returned to Tolox by the other half of the Sendero de los Horcajos but this features a very long steep climb and it was already midday in summer. So we returned on the concrete road marked as the Sendero Virgen de las Nieves. An easy option with very little traffic (expect more Friday, Saturday and Sunday).

It was a nice walk. The part from the start towards the remora was really nice. The second part: the return did not meet my expectations. ( a road to follow)
