Itinerary description

If you're lucky enough with the weather, this route in its part under Torres del Avellano (Camp2-Camp4) is one of the best in Chile, and indeed in the world. Honestly, I like it more than Torres del Paine: no trails, no people, everything around is exactly like Patagonia before the advent of man.
I put additional water points only where water is scarce.
Solo.

Thanks for posting this trail!!!!, we have just finished and it was an extremely nice hike! For extra information for potential other hikers the: crossing Rio Avellano can become really difficult later on (a sunny) day because of allot of glacier water, so the river became really strong, we had to camp and wait until early morning to cross. Be prepared for some potential set backs. Again amazing trail, many thanks.

Hi celesteaalden, did you end up doing the hike with these circumstances? We're thinking of going up there and try it in two days!

  • celesteaalden Dec 16, 2023

Hi Sofie! I ended up doing a different hike this past week, but am planning on going to torres del avellano tomorrow (starting tomorrow at least). I will be trying the hike from the southern entrance though in Bahia Murta, since I have heard that the pass is impassable right now without mountaineering equipment.

Hola!

Ford is ok now, but be weary about rains.
Some bushbushing can be avoid by going righ the river bed.
