Itinerary description
We took the RM 502 from Totana and parked our car at the parking place of the Casa Forestal, an excellent starting place for walks.
The first part of the walk is lovely and very easy, ascending gradually from 440 to 603 metres where you come at a point where you have a good view of the Corazon de Jesus and the Santuario de Santa Eulalia.
From this point we took a hardly visible track straightaway up to the road that leads to the statue in front of which is a Mirador, overlooking the valleys.
From here we walked around descending back to the road all the time having great views of the Santuaruio. From the road we took the white/green marked track to the Santuario, which unfortunately was closed.
Then we went up the hill to see what was on top. This was a bit of a scramble and you will pass a formidable cave shoirtly before you hit the road. We followed this road to the end from which you have a splendid view into the Sierra de Espuna.
Because we wanted an easy way down to the Santuario we followed the road down to it and then took the Pr Mu 64 for a while, passing a beautifully situated picknick area.
From here on the track becomes really beautiful while it winds itself down and up into the valley. After we got to the RM 502 we followed the Pr Mu 64 sharply to the left and followed it to the first junction, about one kilometre further , where we took the track to the right. The track becomes even more beautiful with wonderful open views all the way down back to the Casa Forestal and the plains.
