Itinerary description
Track from Lepin le Lac to the viewpoint of Mont Grele, close to the 3 electric cable masts at the top. From the top you will have a great view of Lac d' Aiguebelette.
Start: Parking at Lepin le Lac afront of Ecole Mairie N45 32.141 E5 47.652
The trail goes through thick Beech forest and Beech forest only which makes it a bit boring. The view from the top is nice, but in the end not really worth the effort of the hike...
The tourist info map of this track mentions is as a 6 hour walk which is virtually impossible; it took us 9,5 hours including breaks. The killer is the slippery descent and because of that I strongly advise not to do this trail within 3 days after it rained (!!!). The trail is badly maintained (July 2014)often very narrow and covered in a think layer of Beech leaves and nutshell remains (see pictures). The rocks and the roots of the trees make it very slippery and although we wore C grade mountain hiking boots and used walking poles we did not escape without bruises! Be carefull!

By the way, we did see a Chamois (mountaingoat) at the top.

Thick layer of leaves, most of the trail is like this and often roots and stones (slippery) are not well visible.
