Trail from Alevkaya mountainroad to Antiphonities Church Esentepe

Start of the trail

Trailsigns by the side of the way. We did go this trail in the beginning of December some years back. The weather was lovely. Time spent was aprx a total of 2 hours. We walk at a good speed, only stopping for sights and nature looks.

There are sections with a nice views and some parts panoramic. Mostly the trail is located within low to medium high forest vegetation.

Intersection take sideroad to Antiphonitis

This road is asphalt. You take the road to the right down to the church. It is possible to drive all the way to Antiphonitis, if that is of interest.

The fist view of the cute old Bysans church is possible from the road heading to the sight.

Antiphonitis Church Esentepe - Quite an astonishing experience.

Antiphonitis Church Esentepe dates back to the Byzantine era. The church or monastery, as it is also called, is located above Esentepe. 14th century church with partly perserved frescoes. Quite astonishing experience. Opening hours Aprox. : Summer 10.00 - 17.00, winter 9.00- 14.45 Admission: 7 TL adults, discounted fares for students, soliders and children. The Entrance fee includes leaflet. It is a map and has information about the castle in English. There is a clean and nice toilet and waterbotles for sale from the man at the ticket office.
