Itinerary description

This route starts at Palamós village. You can move to cala Fosca (cala means a small beach between rocks in catalan) by car or by bus from Palamós. Alternatively, you can start walking at Palamós, following the camí de ronda (coastal path) and in 20 minutes you will arrive to Cala Fosca, where the trek starts in the map.

NOTE= If you want to do this trek from Barcelona, you can take the Sarfa Bus at the Estació del North (Barcelona Northern Bus Station). The trip to Palamós takes you 2 or 2 1/2 hours. You can consider to do this trail in one day from Barcelona if you start early in the morning.

From Cala Fosca, follow the easy trail to Cala s’Alguer and Cala Castell, passing the castle. These two calas are splendid for swimming, specially early in the morning. Cala s’Alguer is unique with its fisherman buildings and blue waters.

These two calas are free from buildings and their natural panorama are impressive: blues waters, white rocks, forests,….

At Cala Castell, walk inland for 10’ (direction to the Parking) and at the entrance of the car parking, take the path right. Follow this path into a Mediterranean forest with cork oaks up to the hill. Forest is fresh but do not forget to take enough water in summer. Arriving to the top of the hill you have nice views of the Costa Brava and the Mediterranean sea. From here, take the path left following the indications direction to Cap Roig. At the end of the path, you arrive to Calella de Palafrugell, a nice white village at the foot of the Mediterranean sea.

Take again the path direction to cala Castell and after 15 minutes from Cap Roig, take the path left to Cala Crit and Cala Estreta. The path follows down the slope arriving to the sea. You must arrive to the sand beach. This cala Crit is impresive and probably you will be the only visitor. In summer, take a bath in its blue waters!.

Unfortunatelly, my battery end at this point but the path to return to cala Castell is easy to follow and you cross several nice beaches between the rocks really isolated. Taking a bath is a unique experience.

From Cal Crit you must cross under the rock arch and walk on the sand. After crossing three calas (always walking on sand), you will find a stairs and a path that gives you up. At the end of the path you find a trail where Cala Castell is indicated. Follow the indication to Cala Castell by Dali’s barrack. After walking 15 minutes, look right and you will find a dry stone barrack. Look the main entrance: Dali will surprise you!

From here, several trails give you again to cala Castell. At cala Castell you will find a bar.

You can return to Palamós following the same trail.

Take into account that the 2h20’ marked in this route is the time From Cala Fosca to cala Crit but you must add 1h15’ more to return from cala Crit to cala Castell ( the sector not shown in the map).
If the trail is too long, you can alternatively park the car at cala Castell (5 euros) and start from here the route. Otherwise, this route can also be started from Calella de Palafrugell.
