Tristaina lakes from Coma del Forat 4.4 km

Beautiful hike to the three Tristaina lakes sitting in a valley surrounded by a chain of high peaks, the Tristaina at 2878 meter being the highest. This is one of the less difficult mountain hikes in Andorra with not too much ascent, although I would not qualify it as easy. The hike is on small and sometimes uneven paths. The hike starts at Coma del Forat, with the restaurant Borda de la Coma, and the chairlift Creussans. You can get there by car or by cable car Telecabina Tristaina from the Ordino-Arcalis resort. In summer, the road is closed for cars from 8:30 to 17:30, and you have to take the Telecabina (https://ww1.ordinoarcalis.com/en/). You can see among others free-roaming horses, see or hear alpine marmots, griffon vultures and a host of mountain flowers.
From the start you take the path taking you up the slope north of the restaurant to a pass between the valley of the Riu de la Coma del Foret and the valley with the three lakes. From the pass you descend to the Estany del Mig. A path takes you along the western side of this lake to the stream entering the lake from the northern side. You follow this stream until you get to the Estany de Més Amunt, the largest lake of the three. You cross a bridge here and take the path back to Estany del Mig on the other side of the stream. You follow the eastern side of the lake and then ascend a bit before descending to the Estany Primer, the first lake. You cross the stream leaving this lake towards the Riu de la Coma del Foret and ascend back to the ridge between the valley of the Riu de la Coma del Foret and the valley with the three lakes. You could go straight on into the valley here, but during this hike we took the path taking you up the ridge to the pass above the Estany del Mig. From here you take the same path back to the start, where you can enjoy something to eat and drink in the restaurant, or e.g. take the Creussans chairlift.
