Itinerary description
The complete Trolltunga hike from the upper parking lot to that photo spot on troll's tongue. It was a moderate hike with couple of sections of steep ascent. But once it levels out, the path has continuous undulating ups and downs.
Start very early in the morning. If you start from the lower parking, you can start at any time. Since we started from the upper parking lot, it had an opening time of 6am. So we started only after parking our car. Parking was 500NOK (in 2018). People are in a rush on the way to Trolltunga as a queue quickly forms for everyone to take a photo. The earlier you are, the shorter the queue.
Technically it is a moderate hike because there are no tricky sections at all (Unless you start the hike from the bottom and take the old route). If you are in good shape and do physical exercise regularly, I doubt this will pose a challenge. For me, it was moderate and this is mostly because it was hot & sunny for which I have a thorough dislike.
Mind you, there are no trees or any places with shade along the whole trail. Bring lots of water (there are some streams you can refill from), some food, a good hat, protection from elements and sunblock (lots of it).
