Itinerary description
Climb to summit Tuc deth Vielha from the northern side of the tunnel.
This trail follows part of the GR211 .
Parking and start place ..turn just before entrance to the tunnel..small parking area.
Follow the forestry track for a few hundred mtrs..arrive at a junction with sign GR211 ..take right track,
Climbs up through forest and arrive at the cabane deth Pontet..was in use as i passed as smoke from chimny.
Trail is easy to follow from here and a few waymarks with wooden signs..
Arrive at a small crooked bridge and open valley views..
GR signs on variouse rocks ..after the pastures ..climb starts onto loose rock for the rast of the climb..steep at times , but ok going.
Arrive at the Porte Vielha (2444mts) from here there is a bothy of stone..good rest p;ace and views.. the final part of the climb is marked with cairns..again easy to follow a few rocky bits..
soon come to summit with cross..over looking Lac Redon and the valley south towards the barrage .and hospice the more popular start point for the summit
