Itinerary description

This hike is very challenging and will test your bodies limit in the extreme of over exertion and stamina. The Lions Head Trail is best known for bringing hikers to the exposed part of the moun- tain which is really scenic.

Weather at Mt. Washington is notoriously erratic throughout the year. It is best to know the conditions when heading out in order to better gauge and be prepared for the 6,283 foot ascent. Mt. Washington is very active throughout the year so you are always running into other hikers making the isolation experience rare.

Mt. Washington is famous for its observatory because the sum- mit is one of the most interesting locations in New England. Once at the summit one can enjoy lunch at the cafeteria and visit the museum located downstairs. Or take a trip down the Cog Railway which was created by Sylvester Marsh back in the day to make the trip up the mountain more manageable. Trans- portation is provided back down to the parking lot for a slight fee by van should you feel over exhausted from the hike.
