Itinerary description
- Collado Zirigarate (3.9 km)
- Beltzulegiko iturria (4.7 km)
- Collado Egurral (5.1 km)
- Txindoki (5.7 km)
This is one of the most beloved trails in the Spanish Basque Country and for good reason. The rock spine rears up above the countryside and the trail to the top is full of variety with small woodland patches, vast pastures, breezy pastures and, from the top, a stunning 360 panorama off the sheer cliffs. This is the standard route and the trail is clear and obvious in it's steady climb upward. People off all ages from children to elderly hike it but it's quite a climb up so not a first time family hike. Hardly anyone outside of the Basque Country walks this route and it's in the real heart of the Basque Country so brush up on your 'kaixo' (Basque for hello). This is not technically the Pyrenees but the sierra
